Summary: Kevin and Scotty see Michelle after she moved back to the city with her new boyfriend. Based after the last episode so 5.08
Steve’ point of view
He arrives at his parents’ house slightly nervous about seeing them after so long.
He walks slowly up the path to the house getting more excited about the fact that he was about to introduce his kids to his parents.
The last time he had saw them words were exchanges that neither side actually meant, he wanted to leave to become a photographer but his family wasn’t convinced that it was a stable career to go into; plus they wanted him to stay nearby and start a family while they were still alive to appreciate grandkids.
He got to the door and wasn’t sure how to knock on the door with a baby in each arm; he twisted slightly and knocked with his elbow.
After a minute his father answered the door and just stared at him and the babies; lost for words.
“Hi, Grandpa” Steve said as he waited to be let in; he offered one of the babies to his dad, who took him and started to cry with joy.
“Helloooo, there, cuties” his dad said as he motioned for him to come.
Steve walked into the old house that he once called home; it looked the same but felt different, like he didn’t belong.
He nodded his head when his dad asked he’d like something to drink; they settled on some coffee.
At this point Steve told him the story of how he had meet the mother (skipping the part about where she was); he told his father about the
birth and how much he enjoyed being a father. During the conservation his dad got up and rang his mother saying there was surprise back at home and if she could get home soon she wouldn’t regret it.
They carried on talking into the hours until there was a knock at the door.

At the police station
Sam came into the police station after finding Shelly; he felt exhausted but knew that he had only just started the day really.
Finding Shelly alive was a great feeling and he knew with the fact that Shelly was kept in good condition meant that he wasn’t going to harm the babies; he just needed to find Steve and that would lead him to them.
He looked at his watch and thought that Jake should have finished with Michelle by now; at that point Jake walked up to him.
“Detective, I’ve finished with the prisoner. I think we have some leads; since he wasn’t at his flat then maybe his parents. Michelle doesn’t know the address but we can search for it from what she has provided me with” Jake said.
“Okay, you search for that address and I’ll look through the rest of the information that Michelle provided us with” Sam said taking the note pad from Jake.
Jake ran off to search the DVLA records for an address.
A man casually walked into the police station not sure if he was doing the right thing; he might even end up wasting their time but he felt that he should at least try; he walks up to the first person he sees who happens to be Sam.
“Um, excuse” the man said.
Sam looked at him; thinking he didn’t have time to deal with ordinary crime reports today “Um, I’m actually busy, I’m sorry but you can book an appointment at reception” he said softly not to be rude as he pointed to the reception.
“Um, I actually have information from the kidnappings, at least I think I do” the man says nervously.
That caught the detectives’ attention and he turned to the man saying “What kidnappings?” Sam asks trying not to get his hopes up; plus there are always false leads in kidnapping cases.
“Um, the babies that are on the news; they were kidnapped after a shooting, right?” the man said.
Sam just nods; not all the information on who was shot and where was released for security and protection of the Mr.Wandell, Mr.Walker and the babies.
“I picked up a guy just under two hours ago; he had these two babies in his arms and he was acting nervous and mumbling to the babies. I thought it was weird for a parent to take their babies in a taxi; you don’t see it often, at least not without a car seat for them” the man continued.
“Can you tell me where you picked up the man and the babies” Sam said; knowing that Steve could have gone anywhere to get picked up but hoping that maybe this might be a lead.
“Um, yep, it was close to that great cafe” the man remembers his wife had loved it when they had gone “wife loved it, what is it? um, Cafe 429” and he looked at the shock in the detectives face.
“Um, to you have the address to where you dropped the man off?” Sam asked; this was a good lead and was worth checking out.
“Yep, already wrote it down” the man said handing him the piece of paper in his hand.
“So it was good thing that came in” the man said unsure of how he convinced the detective to take him seriously “I wasn’t even sure it was anything”.
“No, you did a good thing, thank you” Sam said grateful for the first good lead they had.
Jake came running back at this point with another piece of paper in his hand “Got the address”.
Sam snatched the piece of paper out of his hand without even explaining it.
He looked at the addresses on the paper “They match” Sam said stupidly, and then went into the Detective that he was. “They match. Jake mobilize a team together. Shouldn’t really need it but I don’t want to put anyone at risk”.
Jake ran off again to get ready.
Then Sam turned to the man “I want to thank you for taking the time to come here and report this information to us” he politely said.
“That’s okay” the man said as he turned to leave the police station “just doing my good samaritan deed for the day” and carried walking knowing he had done the right thing.

Back at the hospital
“I have news about your husband” the doctor said and everyone sucked their breath in.
“The operation was a success” the doctor said and everyone let out a sign of relieve “There were complication during the surgery”
Before he had a chance to explain what happen Kevin was already hearing bad news “What kind of complication?” he said quickly.
“Mr. Wandell’s heart stopped briefly during the surgery” the doctor explained, Kevin’s face went a white as possible and then green as he fought the nausea that he was feeling.
“The bullet penetrated his left shoulder and at the angle it was shoot the bullet moved at a downwards angle; I can’t explain why, but the stress of the injury caused his heart to stop briefly” the doctor explained with his expertises what had occurred.
“Is he okay?” Kevin asked in a timid voice.
“The next 12-24 hours are going to be vital to his recovery. He can wake up anytime from now to the next 24 hours but it is important to see that he does wake up in that timeline. I want as little stress to him as possible at the moment” the doctor concluded.
“Can I see him?” Kevin asked not even looking the doctor.
“Yes, you can but just you for now” the doctor said looking at the family; that many people in one room is not a good idea.
The rest of the family look disappointed as Kevin takes one look at his family and follows the doctor to Scotty’s room and then the doctor leaves him alone with his husband.
Kevin walks slowly over to the bed and carefully brushes some of Scotty’s hair away from his forehead.
“Hey, sweetie, it’s me” Kevin says as he gives him a quick kisses on the cheek.
“Not used to speaking to you and not hearing you answer me. So, just here his please, Scotty, come back to me, I love you, I need you, you’re my everything and I don’t know what to do without you. Just come back to me” Kevin says as he gently put his hand onto Scotty’s left hand and sits down in the chair by the bed.
He sits there not knowing what to do or say; he just waits for Scotty to wake up.
