Love at Sea – Part 18
By Kymley
About: Kevin and Scotty
Rate: PG
Disclaimer: Not mine. Just messing with the characters if B&S
Summary: AU this is my first try at this one. So at the moment I’ve been writing about a case study
for my course; this makes me feel like I’m still doing uni work.
A/N – sorry, motivation for this story is nearly gone but seeing that its Laira26
birthday I thought the least I could do was finish this chapter. Happy Birthday.
“You will marry her” William stated “or else...”
“Or else what” Kevin said sarcastically “what are you going
to do; you can’t force me”.
“I sure can” William stated confidently and Kevin grew nervous
“I’ll disinherit you and forbid anyone in the family from everyone seeing or
speaking to every again” he smiled as Kevin grew uncomfortable under his gaze.
“But you can’t” Kevin complained; more about not seeing his
family again than the money.
“I can and will” William repeated “not only will I do that
but I’ll fire you from your position as our lawyer and I will discredit your
name” Kevin looked shocked at this threat “you will not be able to get any work
again or work for any company” he stated neutrally.
Kevin nodded at his father; he had no choice, with no
family, no money and no job what exactly could he give to Scotty – nothing.
What was more damaging to him is that he knew that his
father would and could do everything he stated.
“Now” William said speaking as if they hadn’t disagreed or
that he had threatened Kevin and looking at the sky “I think it’s time to go to
our rooms and prepare for bed” Kevin nodded and they went their separate ways.

Kevin watched as Emily slept soundly; he knew he had no
choice now but to marry her, he guess it would feel exactly the same as it used
to between them.
Except, now, he couldn’t stop thinking of Scotty, he was
lying in bed with Emily when all he wanted to do was be with Scotty.
Scotty was waiting for him outside right now, at their place
and their time and he didn’t even have the courage to tell Scotty the truth.
When, the truth was that as soon as he saw Scotty he was in
love with him like never before and never again.
How could he go outside and tell him that he couldn’t be
with him; when all he wanted was to be with him.
Then again how could he not tell him?
His mind kept going on over the subject and before he
realized he was asleep.

12th April
1912
Scotty gave up on Kevin and went back to his room when he
realized that passengers were starting to get up; another sleepless night
Scotty thought as he changed his clothes and rushed to the kitchen.
He wanted to talk to John, no, that wasn’t true, he wanted
to talk to Kevin but that didn’t seem to happen even when they arranged it but
he had to talk to someone about it.
He rushed into the kitchen and saw John sitting at his desk
as if he hadn’t moved from yesterday; the job of a head chef was never over.
John looked up when he heard the door up and Scotty rush in;
he sounded out of breath and looked worried and nervous.
“Scotty is everything okay” John said worried about Scotty
manner.
“No, it isn’t” Scotty said “he didn’t turn up”.
“Kevin?” John asked.
Scotty just nodded as an answer. John had been afraid that
this would happen; that this Kevin guy would have sex with Scotty and then
leave him. Though when Scotty came in saying that they had discussed being
together when they docked in New York he adjusted his opinion of the man; now
it was back to his original assessment.
“Let me guess he didn’t turn up” John said a bit angry at
Kevin, and Scotty for fooling for his lines.
“How did you know?” Scotty said when John had guessed right.
“Because, I’ve meet guys like him before, guys that promise
you the world and then once they got what they wanted; they never actually go
through with it.” John said slightly bitter about the past.
“No, no, no” Scotty repeated shaking his head “Kevin isn’t
like that”.
“They all are Scotty, you’re just too young and naive to see
it” John said to get Scotty to be realistic about the situation.
“No, you don’t understand” Scotty said quietly “he never
promised me anything until afterwards”.
“Oh” John said not really knowing what to do or say about
that; maybe Kevin was serious after all.
He looked at Scotty, who was standing there shaking, who
obviously had slept or had slept well, and was clearly confused and hurt.
He walked over to Scotty and put his hand on to his arm
“Maybe he just” he said waving his hands around in a clear gesture “forgot...or
got sidetracked and couldn’t get away” he continued trying to explain away
Kevin’ behaviour.
“Sidetracked...yeah...right...in the middle of the night
John, I really doubt it” Scotty said, he doesn’t know where Kevin was but if he
was too busy to get to Scotty then maybe he just didn’t mean that much to Kevin
as he had thought.
“You don’t know what happened” John said trying to defend
Kevin because it was clearly something that Scotty needed to hear “there could
be a perfectly reasonable explanation to his absences last night. He could have
had a family emergency, most of the passengers travel with their family, right”
and Scotty nodded his head “then wait and talk to him later, I’m sure everything
will be okay” and he really did hope that it would.
“You feeling better now?” John asked carefully.
“Yeah, I guess” Scotty said with a sweet smile on his face.
“Good” John said nodding his head “now back to work”.
Other staff members had started to come in the kitchen
afterwards and prepare for breakfast.
One of the waiters approach John and Scotty could just
overhear the conservation.
“One of the families has asked for some champagne to be
prepared” the waiter said to John; he wasn’t sure if this was something that
was allowed for this time of day.
“What” John said shocked; this was a first “why?” he asked.
“They are expecting some good news to be delivered during
breakfast” the waiter said repeating the words that had nearly been shouted at
him.
“Oh” John said thinking over the situation “I guess that can
be arranged”.
