Summary: AU this is my first try at this one. So at the moment I’ve been writing about a case study for my course; this makes me feel like I’m still doing uni work.
Kevin met with his family in the dinning saloon for food; there were a few questions about where he had been for most of the day but he dodged the questions saying he had needed some time by himself.
The leftover food was collected and people started to leave William spoke directly to Kevin “I want a word with you in a minute”, not asking but telling.

Scotty rushed into the kitchen knowing that he wasn’t just late but that he had disappeared earlier and left the rest of the kitchen staff to clean up the mess. Plus, he was late the first day; he managed to get away with it the first day but he doubted he wouldn’t get into trouble now.
“Sorry I’m late” he breathed out when he entered the kitchen and everyone looked at him.
“It’s okay; John explained” one of the other chefs said.
Scotty was shocked by this but didn’t question it; especially in front of the staff that were there today.
He walked over to where John was and nodded at him when he saw Scotty.
“Glad to see that you are feeling better, Scotty” John said explaining the excuse he had come up with “are you sure you are okay to be here though?” he continued.
“Um, yes” Scotty said waiting for his brain to catch up with what John had said “I had a few hours sleep so feeling much better now”
“That’s good” John stated, then in a voice that wasn’t louder than a whisper he said “I want a word with you in a minute”, not asking but telling.

Everyone left Kevin and William by themselves to discuss whatever it was that William wanted to; no one ever disagreed or argued with him, Nora only ever had little success on that area.
“We will take a walk to the gymnasium before my work out will begin” William stated; even though his work out was more business connection that he was gathering.
“Father” Kevin stated but then didn’t know what else to say.
“Kevin” William started but knew exactly what he wanted to say “you do not ask your mother and I for a ring and then not ask Emily to marry you” he stopped for a second when Kevin tried to defend his action “I am not finished yet and they will be no interruption or debate once I’m finished. You will ask and marry Emily; there is no doubt about that situation. Don’t you think you have disgraced this family enough; you should be married by now and provide me with grandchildren and yourself with an heir” he started to get anger at this point “isn’t it enough that Kitty and Tommy haven’t provide me with grandchildren yet but to add on the factor of Justin and his problems; I need grandchildren”.
“But Sarah...” Kevin started.
“Is a none issue; she is married to someone that can’t even support himself let only his family, it is a disgusting” William said calming down; discuss the issue as if it was an average conversation “and I told you no interrupting me. You will marry Emily; you need a wife now, you have waited long enough to marry, so it’s time. You have already told us that it will occur whilst we are on the ship so I think it will happen tomorrow morning at breakfast. You will ask her and we will celebrate throughout the day” he said happily “then start to arrange the wedding tomorrow; your mother and Emily will be busy for the rest of the journey”.
Once it was clear to Kevin that his father had stopped speaking he cleared his throat and waited for his father to look at him.
“I am not marrying her” Kevin said strongly and calmly “I don’t love her”
“You will marry her” William stated “or else...”

Once the kitchen staff had finished and left Scotty pulled John over to a corner.
“You can’t keep doing this Scotty” John said angrily.
“I know” Scotty agreed “I’m sorry, I wasn’t really thinking”.
“Of course you weren’t!” John said “too busy trying to get screwed”.
“Look” Scotty said get anger as well “it won’t happen again; we just got a little distracted”.
“Yeah, right” John said “thought it wasn’t going to happen again after the first time”.
“But that was different; we know where we stand with each other now” Scotty said smiling; it didn’t go unnoticed by John.
“Look I’m happy for you guys” John said with a quick smiling “but if you were anyone else; I’d have fired you; I’m not sure I can let this go with some warning Scotty”.
“It’s okay” Scotty said calm.
“No it’s not” John stated.
“But it is” Scotty said “this is going to be mine last voyage”.
“What!” John nearly yelled “but what are you going to do?” he asked concerned.
“Transfer to the land” Scotty stated shortly.
“This is his influence, is it?” John asked and Scotty nodded “but you love working on ships”
“I do” Scotty agreed “but I love him more”.
“Love?” John said falling into the chair.
“Yes” Scotty confirmed.
“Okay” John said “I see what we can do about getting you transferred then; not sure if it could happen straight away though”
“Thanks” Scotty said smiling “I’ve also had so offers from hotels in New York”.
They stand there smiling for some time before leaving to their separate quarters.

Scotty stayed looking at the sea and waited for Kevin; he had no concept of how long he waited until the sun started to appear on the horizon.
“Kevin” Scotty said quietly “where are you?”
