About: Kevin, Scotty, Nora and Sarah.
Rate: PG
Disclaimer: Not mine. Just messing with the characters if B&S
Summary: Nora and Sarah reaction to Scotty cheating, set immediately after Kevin confessed that Scotty cheated on him. Not sure about the title for this fic – so any suggestions would be nice.
“What could Scotty have possible done” Nora says as she unpacks the items in the box.
“He cheated” Kevin answers, Nora freezes in motion and Sarah nearly spits out her drink “that is what he did. So much for your great marriage; I have to get ready for court” Kevin finishes picking up his folders and walking to his office “have a good party” and slaps his door.
Sarah and Nora look at Scotty in complete and utter shock, disappointment, a slight bit of anger.
Scotty looks at the people he now calls his family and lowers his head in shame, what has he done.

Sarah and Nora look at Scotty in complete and utter shock, disappointment, a slight bit of anger.
Scotty looks at the people he now calls his family and lowers his head in shame, what has he done.
“I’m sorry” is all Scotty says as he basically runs out of the cafe in embarrassment.
He gets outside and breathes in the fresh air, almost immediately regretting his actions as he chokes on the air and start to hyperventilate.
He puts his hands against the wall of the cafe and tries to gather his strength so he can do what he needs to do. In his mind though he knows how this is going to play out; in five minutes everyone in the family is going to know, hate him and he is going to lose not only Kevin and his marriage but also his family. The people who had accepted him into their family, the people who had encouraged him to be who he was and the people who helped him achieve his dreams. He was going to lose everyone and it was his entire fault.
He starts to cry and then hiccup from all the emotions inside him; when he felt an arm on his shoulder pulling him into a hug he doesn’t think about it twice and he pulls the person into a hug and he cries like he hasn’t cried before.

Nora and Sarah look after Scotty as he runs away from them; then look at themselves, with the same mirrored image on their faces. Shock, disappointment and also disbelieve. They know it must be true by the fact that Kevin told them but also the way that Scotty just reacted makes the statement true as well.
As a mother Nora nods to Kevin’s office and says “I’m going to see if he will take to me, why don’t you...” she says motioning to the door.
Sarah didn’t need the motion she was already going to talk to Scotty; she wanted to know what had happen and why he would do such a thing to her brother but most of all to his husband. She was out of the door in a few seconds.
Nora went to the door and tried to open it; it was locked though, so she knocked on it. She got no answer “Kevin, honey. I know you’re in there, there isn’t exactly anywhere else you could go”.
She can hear Kevin crying slightly but she ignores the cries and tries again “I’m here when you want to talk, Scotty has gone as has Sarah” though she doesn’t say that Sarah has gone after Scotty.
“Mum” Kevin answers finally “I have a case to prep for” basically a nice way of telling her to go away.
Though Nora knows this is a hint, she doesn’t take it “How long have you known?” Nora asks hoping that Sarah and she hadn’t interrupted Kevin finding out. Then she remembers the blankets on the couch and figures it had to be longer, how long had he hidden this from her and the rest of the family?
She got her answer “About a week” Kevin says matter of fact.
“Why didn’t you say anything?” Nora say concerned that he would mention anything.
Kevin then opened the door with a couple of files in his hand and said “because I didn’t want you or anyone else to know. I have to go to court; I’ll talk to you later” Kevin finished making sure that he knew that the conservation was over.
He exited through the back entrance where they kept their cars and was autopilot that he didn’t notice Sarah and Scotty hugging outside the cafe.

Sarah walks outside ready to talk to him or maybe yell but he already looks in pieces. She goes over to him and pulls him in a hug; though she has no idea what has happened between him and Kevin she knows that they love each other. Scotty had always been her favourite brother-in-law.
Once the crying had sub-sided slightly Sarah could hear Scotty mumble the words “what have I done?” over and over again.
He finally pulls back and then says “Sarah, what have I done?” hoping she will have the answer but knowing that there was no answer to that question.
He finally pulls back and then says “Sarah, what have I done?” hoping she will have the answer but knowing that there was no answer to that question.
“What did you do?” Sarah asks wanting sometime of explanation.
“I told Kevin I cheated on him” Scotty confesses and sits on the floor, Sarah following him shortly. He explains about the opening night of the cafe, the conversation with Kevin and then finally about Marcus. He felt glad to finally be able to talk to someone about it; Kevin hadn’t wanted to know anything about it.
“This might be a bit rude, so forgive me” Sarah says “why is it that Kevin is sleeping on the couch then” not quite understanding the motivation behind that decision.
“Kevin” Scotty said figuring out that would explain it all but it didn’t “he didn’t want to sleep in our bed anymore” Scotty said fighting back the tears again “I’ve ruined everything, haven’t I?” Scotty looks at Sarah.
“Not necessarily” Sarah says slowly not quite believing it herself but she wanted Scotty and Kevin to get through this “do you remember Joe?” she asks looking at Scotty, he nods.
“While we were married I met someone else” Sarah confesses and Scotty looks shocked “we were having difficulty in our marriage and then this guy came along and everything felt right again. Nothing actually happened between us but we had this connection and I needed that. So, just so you know I understand the need for that connection”
Scotty shakes his head “So you were in love with this other guy, the way that Kitty was in love with the park guy?” Scotty says not really understanding the similarities between the two situations.
“Yes” Sarah confirms “Noah” she smiles at the name even now.
“See” Scotty said pointing at the smile on her face “you’re smiling as you remember his name, when all I want to do is erase that name from my head forever”
“What I mean” Sarah clarifies “is the fact that we all need that connection and when it disappears we search for it. Though it never helps the relationship you want it to, does it?”
Scotty shakes his head.
They stay there in silent when Nora comes out and tell Sarah to come back inside to help with the charity event tonight. Sarah gets up and pats Scotty on the shoulder “Only time will tell” she says with a sad smile on her face and goes into the cafe. She doesn’t understand how two people that were so in love ended up like that.
Nora looks at Scotty wanting to say something to Scotty but for once she had nothing to say except “You told him”
Scotty nods.
“At least you told him the truth” she gives a small smile about that fact and then leaves him only.
Scotty gets up and goes to do back to his original plans of going shopping.
He gets up and waits for the news to spread around the Walker family it shouldn’t take too long; he does know them after all.
The End

Date: 2011-04-17 07:08 pm (UTC)Me too, felt they passed over it way to quickly; look at how long Kitty and Robert problems carried on for,
There was such much they could have done with this story - which is why I keep writing stories from this point :) Even Matthew Rhys said it was rushed over - which is why I wouldn't mind Marcus coming back to make them really confront everything. Though have to wait until tonight and see how it plays out with Michelle

awwwwwww....you had me in tears *sniffle* Poor Kevin... I wonder how difficult it was for him that morning! Cuz the moment he said it to Nora and Sarah, I thought he'd breakdown, but he had to really compose himself cuz he has a Court hearing to attend to!
Scotty/Sarah's interaction was very well written, although the most part of me still can't forgive Scotty cheating on Kevin even you somehow saved a little bit of him in this. LOL!! Now I need to get to the next fic you posted, you sneaky person, while I was working on fixing my pc, you posted 2 new stories already? :D

Date: 2011-04-17 08:46 pm (UTC)Awww, sorry I made you sniffle - I really thing he always goes inside when he has problems - he won't open up until he either explodes or until everyone finds out.
I really still need to get Scotty's reputation back to which it was or maybe a little bit less. It feels wrong to have Scotty's character do that still but slowly coming to terms - or at least ignoring it like the writers. We've had them mention it in what two episodes since resolved.
Hehe - decided to take a break today from work and wrote them instead on to the next ones soon :)

Date: 2011-04-17 09:39 pm (UTC)Yeah, to me somehow the emotional affair is just as bad - maybe worse than the one-night stand, haven't quite figured out which one I hate more, both are still bad in my book whatever the reason. So for the rant
