Summary: AU this is my first try at this one. So at the moment I’ve been writing about a case study for my course; this makes me feel like I’m still doing uni work.
“Emily” Kevin said waiting for an answer to what she was doing her.
“Um” Emily hesitated not sure how to explain the situation “I saw Justin and thought it would be best if I escorted him back to his room” not wishing to explaining any further she pointed to the half asleep form of Justin on one of the chairs.
They looked at the obvious drunk form of Justin; sleeping his way through the conservation, they nodded their understanding.
Once that was understood Emily got confused herself “May I ask why you are here?” she asked politely wondering why they had shown up at Justin place.
“Um” Kevin said worriedly, he didn’t want to mention the ring or otherwise he would have to explain why he wanted the ring; he didn’t want to propose that why.
Lucky for him Nora was one step ahead of them.
“We had a matter to discuss with Justin” Nora said not explaining anymore than that “William and I had run into Kevin on our way and he decided to keep us company while he looked for you, honey” she said touching her arm gently “now that he had found you, I am sure you two should be off now” pushing both Kevin and Emily to the entrance to Justin’s room.
Once they had left Nora turned back towards William who was already moving towards Justin and shoving him by the shoulder.
“Justin” William said as he was trying to wake him up.
Then came a little soft snooze; giving them the evidence that he was asleep.
“Your turn, my dear” William said to Nora as he decided to start searching the room.
“It needs a woman’ touch” Nora said and got a light chuckle from William as they passed each other.
“Honey, it’s time to get up” Nora says as she gently pushes Justin.
Justin’ eyes open slightly and he mumbles the words “Just a bit longer, I don’t want to go to school today” and breathes out again, Nora steps back from the alcohol smelling wondering if you can get drunk on the fumes of it.
“No, Justin” Nora tries again “It’s time to get up, NOW” she shouts the last word and sees Justin move back in shock.
He slowly moves forward and opens his eyes “Mother, what are you doing here?” now that he is aware of his surroundings.
“We came here to talk to you, Justin” Nora says carefully.
“So talk” Justin says still not quite awake but realizing that something is upsetting his mother.
“It’s about grandmothers’ ring” Nora says hoping that he will deny it or that she would recognize something in his face if he had actually
stolen it.
“And” Justin says expecting her to continue “wait a minute, did you say we” he said as he looked around the room.
“Yes, she did” William said approaching Justin from one of the rooms to his side; he held a small box in his hand.
“What is going on?” Justin said now getting scared.
“You stole the ring of your mother and me” William said in disappointment more than anger “why would you do that?”
Justin looked at his parents face trying determine if this was a joke or not but they looked deadly serious.
“What ring?” Justin asked completely confused.
“The ring that I just found under your pillow in your room” William said getting angry now; what he hated more than the stealing was being lied to.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about” Justin defended himself.
“Justin” William said shaking his head “I have the evidence in my hand”.
Nora looked at Justin in such disappointment, how did Justin turn out this way “Why would you steal from us, you know we would give you anything if you asked”.
“I...I...I don’t know” Justin admitted and started to tear up “I mean I don’t remember” he said looking at his father then his mother.
William starting walking away and once he got to the door he turned back and said “Nora, we’re leaving. Justin, we will discuss this another
time” clearly not believing a word he was saying.
Nora looked up at her youngest son and saw his confusion and his need for her to believe in him but she just couldn’t. She turned and walked to the door with her head held down. Once they were outside and the door was closed she let out the tears that she wouldn’t let out earlier as her husband hugged her and walked her back to their room.

The door shut behind his parent and he just stared there completed devastated and confused by what had happened. He went to the chair and picked up the bottle of booze next to him; he took a swig of the whisky but it burned him inside.
He spat out the little amount of liquid he had swallowed over the chair, took one look at the bottle and got angry.
He throw it across the room, it smashed against the wall and broke into a hundred little pieces and splitters of glass.
Did he really steal the ring, had he been so drunk that he just didn’t even know anymore?
The booze made him feel alive but at what cost.
With that last thought he walked over to his bed and without changing he got into bed and fell asleep.

“Emily?” Kevin said as they walked back to their room.
“Yes” Emily answered waiting to be excused of something; though she had never mentioned anything about the individuals he had seen privately.
“How was my brother when you found him?” Kevin asked he was starting to get concerned about him. Not that he hadn’t in the past but the fact that he was now stealing meant that he and the family would have to do something about the situation.
“He was” Emily said though didn’t know how to finish.
“You don’t have to say anymore” Kevin said disappointed in his brother “but I wanted to thank you for looking after him, you shouldn’t have to do that” he didn’t want her to half to look after a drunk.
“He is your brother, he is important to you” Emily defended herself and Kevin “so he is important to me too” though she admitted silently to the fact that she wouldn’t have done the same for Tommy or the others. Maybe it was because Justin was the baby of the father and she felt the need to protect him.

They reached their room and Kevin gave Emily a short but very sweet kiss on the lips “Shall we go to bed, then” he said opening the door and letting Emily go in first.
He turned around and caught the sight of a figure moving away in the distance, he didn’t even need to see his face to know it was Scotty.

Date: 2011-04-17 08:57 am (UTC)Yeah, thats why I'm having trouble - with the fact that it would be difficult for this to happen; let alone in a few days. I have one or two ideas ready for chance meetings just stuck where I left it really.
