Truth, Pain and Sorrow - Part 14/15

Summary: Kevin and Scotty see Michelle after she moved back to the city with her new boyfriend. Based after the last episode so 5.08
A/N: I'll be away for the next chapter; back to posting on the weekend
At the Hospital
Wally watches the pain and sorrow on Kevin’s face as he explained why Scotty was shot and that fact that the babies were missing.
They had seemed so happy when they spoke last week and now everything had come crashing down around them.
He didn’t know what to say or do; was there even anything he could do to make everything right, he doubt it.
He just watched as Kevin mixed with emotions walked anyway.
“Um” Wally hesitated “Shouldn’t one of you go after him” looking at the guys.
“I think this requires more seasoned hands than us” Jordan said pointing to Quinn and Mario.
“But you’re his friends, I came in and you were hugging him” Wally said remember the intimate hug between the two.
“That was different; he was anger and upset about something else” Jordan said waving it of not sure that Scotty wound have told his dad about the cheating “anyway we only just found out about the babies. This requires the Walkers” Jordan said determinedly.
“Are they even here?” Wally asked looking around he couldn’t see them.
“Kevin mentioned that it’s only one person at a time in the room” Jordan said and Wally nodded remembering “So they must be around here somewhere” he continued.
“Are you sure?” Wally asked thinking that he would have seen one of them around here; then again he only had met Kitty and Robert before so maybe not.
“Oh yeah, there around here somewhere, they folk together whenever there is one of them in the hospital” Jordan said.
Wally was glad to hear that they considered Scotty one of them; he was glad they accepted him more than Bertha, even more than himself his realizes for not standing up to Bertha.
“Really” Wally heard himself say at a whisper “How can you be so sure?” he asked.
“Stories” Jordan said “Let’s go find them” as he filled in Wally on all the stories he heard from Scotty. First remember the time that they had cancelled on them on Thanksgiving; even before they knew Kevin was the father, which got a weird look from Wally; with Mario and Quinn giving their two senses about the stories as well, to the time when Kitty’s baby was born, to Kitty’s cancer and Rebecca’ miscarriage and then to the accident the happened last year.
Jordan was so engrossed in the stories (as were everyone else) that they stopped even looking for the Walkers as they moved around the hospital.
When the turned a corner and both Jordan and Wally heard their names being mentioned.
“Jordan” Sarah said, she had been wondering when he would arrive, see also greeted Mario and Quinn but was wondering who the other two were but got the answer when Kitty spoke; must be Scotty’s parents.
“Mr. Wandell” Kitty said approaching the group and shaking his hand but not knowing who the rest of them were until see saw Sarah talking to them; ah Scotty’ friends.
Quick introduction were made with some slight embarrassment when it came to Moira; everyone at first presumed she was Scotty’s mother and knowing the stories they kept their distance until Kitty asked how they knew each other, everyone was much friendlier towards her after that. Shelly had left at some point to get checked out but was back; only had to get some bandages on her arms and was now hoping for news on Scotty and the babies.
“So, you must want to see Scotty then” Nora said “We don’t know which room he is in, Kevin was the only one allowed in currently” Nora explained feeling guilty.
The people who’d just left Scotty were now feeling guilty.
“Um, actually, I’ve seen him. That’s actually why we came to find you” Wally said.
He waited until he had everyone’s attention and explained what had happened “Then he walked off, we kind of felt out of our depth with the situation. I mean; I didn’t even know they were missing and the lads didn’t even know they had the babies” Wally said finishing the explanation.
“Where did he go?” The Walkers, Saul and Shelly said together thinking that each of them was the better person to comfort and then looked at each other smiling.
Wally saw the concern in each of their faces “Outside the front entrance but I don’t think everyone should go” he said making sure that they understood that it wasn’t going to happen.
Everyone looked around knowing that the first person to speak was going.
“I’ll go” Saul said, everyone knew how close Saul, Scotty and Kevin were; particular after Saul came out and then with the cafe opening as well.
“Me too” Kitty said getting up; Kevin had been so great to her with Robert and he did stay at hers after the cheating was exposed.
Saul and Kitty walked away to find out where Kevin had gone.
“So when did they get the twins; mean I didn’t know anything about it” Jordan said to feel the empty silence around him and because he really wanted to know.
It was then that they found out the truth about Michelle and want see had done. As the story was told he just couldn’t believe it; everything that Kevin and Scotty had gone through to have those babies and everything that had happened because of the loss of them. Now they had lost the babies again and what was worse was the fact that they might lose Scotty.
The carried on discussing the situation until Kitty and Saul came back to give an update on Kevin; followed by a man they didn’t recognise.

At the McQueen’s House
“Don’t move” Steve said as Sam came in the door.
“Don’t do anything stupid Steve, you’re already in enough trouble” Sam said.
“Steven, what are you doing with a gun?” his dad asked shocked but concerned with Steven’ behaviour; this wasn’t the son he knew.
“I’m not letting you take my kids” Steve said.
“There not yours though, are they” Sam said trying to make Steve understand “You know that” hoping to get through to Steve.
“No, no, no” Steve said and kept repeating and shaking.
Sam was slowly edging his hand to his gun holster; he carefully unhooked the gun and started to move the gun.
Steve saw the movement as he was shaking his head and just turned the Sam “Don’t” as he pointed the gun at Sam and pulled the trigger; empty the rest of the rounds into his chest, not knowing the place was surround.
As the first bullet hit Sam squarely in the chest he hit the door and he kept hitting the door as the rest hit; only once they stopped hitting him did he slide down the door and onto the floor.
He could feel the impact of each bullet and found it difficult to breathe. With his had so close to the gun he pulled it out and shot Steve in the shoulder close it where Steve had shot Scotty.
As the bullet hit him Steve just looked shocked, fell backwards and then started to watch as the blood poured out of the wound, thinking this must have been want Scotty felt; in this much pain. Then he watched as the place was stormed by police officers and calls were being made.
Last thing he saw before he lost conscious was Sam starting to get up and he wonder how that was possible when he was in so much pain from one bullet wound.

Outside the Hospital
Kevin just sat against the wall and cried until he heard his name being called and then arms embracing him.
The arms of his Uncle and Kitty covered him; letting him feel the pain and not trying to calm him down or explain the situation.
This is what they both knew Kevin needn’t right now; they was no explanation for what happened, there was no forget or forgiven this time.
This wasn’t an accident or a mistake; someone had done this on purpose and none of them could explain or even understand why someone would do it.
Once Kevin had calm down he looked at them and just said “They’re gone; I’m not going to see them again”.
“Of course you are; the police will find Steve and then we’ll find them” Kitty said strongly.
“That’s just it” Kevin said “They just rolled Steve in. He’d been hurt; what if he dies and the babies are out there somewhere” Kevin said thinking of the worse scenario.
Saul was looking at the officer coming his direction and with a baby in each arm “Or maybe he got shot when he wouldn’t give them up” Saul said nodding over Kevin’ shoulder.
Kevin looked around and saw Sam coming his direction with his babies in his arms.
Kevin went running over to Sam shouting his name; followed quickly by Saul and Kitty.
“Sam, please tell me they’re okay and mine?” Kevin said getting his hopes up.
“Yes they’re yours” Sam said with a slight laugh; why else would he be there “They seem fine. How is Scotty?” Sam asked concerned about the other man; as he passed the baby to Kevin and Kitty grabbed hold of one of them as well smiling, this was the first time she actually held one of them.
“He seems okay, the doctors said that the next 24 hours are going to show how he is going to be; they would like him to wake up in the next 12 hours though” he explained as he held onto one of the babies; really wanting both of them but knowing he was in safe in Kitty’s arms for now “What happened, I just saw Steve being pulled into the hospital” Kevin confused but not really concerned about Steve now he had the twins back.
Steve explained how they found Shelly, then talked the Michelle and with her help and the help of an anonymous person they found Steve. “I walked into the house and he ended up pulling a gun on me. Must have thought I was stupid or something; walking into a place where I know is a gun. He emptied his clip on me and then I managed to shot him. I was wearing a bullet proves vest; just glad he decided to shot there instead of somewhere else” Sam said laughing but knowing how lucky he was really.
“So you’re okay and everyone else; he hasn’t managed to hurt anyone else. I mean I saw Shelly and she seems okay” Kevin asked concerned.
“Yeah, I’m fine. I’ll have some major bruises but beside that I’m great. I thought you’d want to have the babies as soon as possible and knew you’d be here. Plus I wanted to check on Scotty and need to get statements of Shelly, Scotty and yourself and have to be here to tell the hospital about Steve. Need to be ready to arrest him if he survives” Sam was on the same wave length as Kevin in his care about Steve.
“We should tell the others the good news!” Kitty said excited that the babies were okay.
“That’s a great idea” Saul said nodding his enthusiasm.
“I should find Shelly” Sam said thinking that Kevin would want tell everyone the news.
“She was with everyone else waiting for the news when we left” Saul said remember who Shelly was all of a sudden.
“Do you mind if I come then” Sam asked knowing this was a family moment.
“Sure” Kevin said “but can you guys go without me. I want to see Scotty first and let the babies see Daddy” pointing to the other baby in Kitty’s arms. Kitty gets the message and reluctantly gives up the baby into Kevin’s free arm.
“I’ll catch up with you, please just give us some space for know” Kevin said as they parted ways knowing that otherwise the others will crush him in a rush to see the babies.

Scotty’ Room
Kevin walked in slowly with the babies; they were calm and quiet for now.
He walked over the Scotty’ bed and sat down.
“Hey Daddy, our babies are back where they belong. Now we just need you to open your eye and come back to us and everything will be perfect” Kevin said hoping that Scotty could hear him.
“You know after everything we’ve been through since the first day you walked into my office I don’t think I would change anything. We’ve been through ups and downs throughout our whole relationship and I once told you that easy wasn’t all it cracked up to be and it’s true because I have never nor ever will love someone as much as I love you. So if we could go back in time to change anything I wouldn't because I don’t need to; I love you and would marry you all over again if I could” Kevin said placing a soft kiss on Scotty’s lips.
“That sounded like a proposal to me” Scotty said in nothing more than a whisper and slightly groggy as he was coming around from the sleep he was in.
