Summary: Kevin and Scotty see Michelle after she moved back to the city with her new boyfriend. Based after the last episode so 5.08

“So my decision is.........” Shelly said she pauses as she looks at both the couples. This was the hard part; telling the people, all the information and decision making was easy it was telling the decision that she found difficult.

“It is my decision that the babies will be placed with Mr. Walker and Mr. Wandell in accordance with the evidence and the legal contract” Shelly said.

The reaction of the couples changed at the decision; Michelle cried out “No” and Steve went over to hold her when as she fell to the floor.

Kevin and Scotty were still in shock and then looked at each other and smiled; a quiet “Yes” left Kevin’s lips as they hugged.

“No, they’re my babies, we’ve lost are babies” Michelle sobbed.

Kevin gets anger at that comment “No, they aren’t yours, they never were. You took are children from us”

“I didn’t mean to take them” Michelle said softly “I just wanted them. I didn’t think about what I was getting myself into when I agreed to be the surrogate”

“You wanted to be the surrogate; you even asked us to” Kevin said deflecting what Michelle had said.

“I know” Michelle said quietly.

“Stop it both of you. I just want to take the babies and leave now. Please Kevin” Scotty begs.

“Scotty, how can you be so calm about this?” Kevin says angrily; not anger at Scotty but anger still.

“Kevin, I am angry” Scotty says “but we’ve got our babies” with hope in his eyes.

Kevin starts to relax while he stares at Scotty; his breathing calms down “Oh my god, we have are babies” Kevin says acceptingly and then it hits him “We have our babies, and we have so much stuff to get” Kevin said excitedly and Scotty responds to his excitement.

Steve gets anger at the pairs excitement “We’ve raised them” he said catching everyone’s attention “We’ll take you to court for custody”.

Kevin is about to respond when the social worker steps in “I’ve actually had the easiest time with this decision. Michelle has no rights to the children; it is straight-forward decision. Just because she raised them doesn’t make them her; the only way that the children would be hers is if the men hand signed over their rights” Shelly explained “I can’t imagine a judge siding with her especially with the contract that you all signed”.

“Michelle, I’m not sure why you did this but you’re going to except the decision that I’ve made” Shelly said sadly; the girl did look crushed.

“I can’t. I can’t” Michelle said “They are mine. I need them” she stood up looking for the babies “I have to see them” and the police officers go to stop her from searching for them.

She looks at Kevin and Scotty and pleads with them “Please”.

Kevin and Scotty look at Michelle and then each other; looking at the women that they thought was their friend. The person they trusted with the most important thing in their world and she was pleading with them to see their kids that she had hidden from them.

“Michelle, you told us that you had an miscarriage” Scotty says calmly “you said that our babies were dead, you’re never going to see them again. They might as well be dead to you now because you are NEVER going to see them”

He said it so calmly that no dared to contradict him; he controlled his emotion. Kevin looked at Scotty and though shock at what he said (he is normally the one to say that) he was so proud of him.

Michelle started to struggle against the police officers and they tighten their grip on her “Miss, if you don’t calm down we’ll have to arrest” Martin said hoping the threat would calm her down somewhat.

At the mention of this Kevin looked at the officers and suddenly knew something else “I want her arrested” he said softly but loud enough so that everyone in the room could hear.

All movement in the room stopped “Why?” Steve said not realizing what the social worker and Kevin had both figured out.

“For abduction and kidnapping” Kevin said moving into his lawyer mode “I also want a restraining order”

“You can’t be serious” Steve said seriously.

“Actually, he has every right” Shelly said; she had thought about it while looking at the contract and other evidences.

“But he can’t, Scotty please don’t let him” Michelle said

Scotty looked at his friend in tears not knowing what to do or say, did he really want to see his friend in jail, he wasn’t sure. Then he looked at Kevin and something inside him said that he did; for all the pain she had put both of them through.

“Actually, he can and I’m right behind him” Scotty said strongly but can’t quite believe he was doing it.

Kevin looked at Scotty and felt a thousand different things for him in that moment. He thought that maybe Scotty would try to talk him out of it; they have been friends longer than Kevin knew him. He was so glad that Scotty was on the same page as him.

Jeffery looked at the determined faces on both Kevin and Scotty and turned to Michelle and said the only thing he could “You are under arrest for the abduction and kidnapping of Mr. Walker and Mr. Wandell babies” he could remember the names of the babies nor did he think that the couple wanted to keep the names “you do not have to say anything....” he carried on as Shelly went up to smiling couple.

“So, do you want to see your kids” Shelly said knowing the answer already.

They looked at each other and smiled, turned to Shelly and said “Yes, please”.

They left the room as Michelle was being read her rights and never even looked at her.

“Michelle, honey, don’t worry I’ll get you a lawyer and everything will be okay.” Steve said to Michelle as much as he said to himself; everything has to be okay “I’m not losing any of you guys, not because of them” he declared.

Shelly worked Kevin and Scotty to where the babies were being kept, she opened the door and went in “Dads, say hello to your babies” she said. “I’m just going to gather the document in my room, photocopy everything and give you the originally birth certificates”

Kevin looked at her at the mention of the birth certificates “Do we even know which one is which” Kevin asked scared. He doesn’t even see the difference between them besides the clothes.

“Yeah, we do” Shelly said understandingly.

“Do you think; is it possible to change their names” Kevin said hoping “we had names picked out for them”.

“We should be able to. We need to get new birth certificates with the actual parents’ names on” Shelly said smiling “It shouldn’t be that difficult, I would have thought”

“Thanks” Kevin said “I was worried we would find them and then lose them all over again” he was starting to shale at the thought. The emotions from the day were finally getting to him.

Shelly went up to him “I’ve worked as a social worker for ten years and I can say that this was one of the easiest decisions” she said truthfully “if I’m honest it was the contract that made the decision. It was in their plain and simple that she had no legal rights to those children” she said as she squeezed his arm gentle and went to do her job.

Scotty had been waiting for Kevin, not looking at his kids until his husband is next to him. He holds out his hand and Kevin takes hold of it as they walk towards their babies and their future.

Shelly walks out of the room feeling content with her decision; she walks to the other room and collects the evidences. She goes to photocopiers and does everything she needs.

She sees the police officers with Steve trying to calm him down; he looked anger but she knew that the police could handle the situation. He wasn’t going to be arrested or charged with anything; he hadn’t know until today what Michelle had done so they didn’t have anything to hold him on. She thought he better get a check on his emotions though or he could be thrown into jail.

It was as if he could sense her looking at him and he turned; the look in his eyes was one of pure rage. She walked off quickly to the other room; she handed the document to Kevin and explained what they would now have to do. She said “If there is anything you need; just give me a ring” as she gave them her number and then wished them all the best.

She left the police station with a good feeling about the day.

Kevin and Scotty were enjoying the peace and quiet of the room; both of them had one the babies in their arms and they sat on the floor.

“Kevin” Scotty said slowly.

“Yeah” Kevin said in such wonder of the moment.

“Are we going to be okay, now?” Scotty said scared and hopeful.

“What!” Kevin asked shocked trying to think about why Scotty would ask that; then he remembered and his world crashed again for the second time that day. This was the first day when they were back to being themselves and now they had the babies as well.

He looked at his husband and watched Scotty’ face fall from hopeful to worry in the blink of an eye.

“Scotty” Kevin said trying to think of the right words to say “I hope so. I really do want to spend the rest of my life with you. We’ve still got some stuff to work through” Scotty knew he was right but part of him just wanted them to be back to normal and happy; with their kids.

“We’ll get there” Kevin said strongly and knew it was true; both of them wanted to work on their marriage then anything was possible.

“You know” Scotty said changing the subject “we’ve got people to tell” he said smiling.

“That we do” Kevin said “I’ll call mum”

“I’ll call Saul” Scotty said as they both picked up their phone from their pocket.

Kevin stopped Scotty as he was about to ring Saul “I’ve got a better plan, why don’t you ring your dad instead” and Scotty looked shocked at the suggestion; plus why didn’t he think of his parents first “he loves you and deserves to know. He helped with the money for them as well” Kevin justified.

They both started to ring their parents.

“Hey Dad” Scotty said when it reached the answer machine “I’ve got some great news. Ring me when you get this. Love you. Scotty” he hung up and listened to Kevin talking to his mother.

“Mum, as glad as I am to be hearing about your new love life” Kevin said; his face showing that he wasn’t that pleased “I actually rang for a reason” he looked over of Scotty “No, it’s good news. Nope I’m not telling you but can you ring everyone and tell them to meet us at yours in about an hour. Yep, Scotty is coming too and we have a surprise. No, I’m not going to tell you. See you soon. Love you. Bye.” Kevin said smiling and the little plan to shock the whole family at the same time; it might be mean but he wanted to tell everyone at the same time.

“Now, how are we going to get them to Nora’s” Scotty asked.

They both looked at each other and laughed; not only do they not have any car seats but they didn’t have anything for the babies. They needed to go shopping but maybe they could steal some stuff from Sarah or Kitty first.

They were laughing when the officer came in to check and solved all their problems by bringing them two baby car seats.

It took them a little while to put in the seats; Scotty remembered some of it from when Evan was born but with two of them to do it took a while.

When they got to Nora’ house they could see the families’ cars were all there and that meant they were most likely late.

“You ready to do this” Kevin asked before getting out the car.

“Yes, you?” Scotty said but he was slightly nervous.

“Yes” Kevin said feeling exactly the same way as Scotty.

“We better get in there before they send a search party looking for us” Kevin said knowing that his mum might be worried.

They got out the car; both carrying a baby each. They walked straight up to the door and walked in saying “We’re here” as they walked into the living room.

“Finally, what took you...” Nora stopped mid sentence and everyone stood there in complete shock.

It took a minute for them to process the information and then they started speak all at the same time.
