So I figure I put up my entree for Matthew Rhys Competition - hope you enjoyed it!

In the Blink of an Eye

Life can change so quickly; in the blink of an eye, it’s like a different life when he meets the love of his life and finally had the family that he always wanted. The big moments in anyone’s life can happen in a blink of an eye.

Blink

He looks on as his brothers swim trying to save the life of their father and he holds on to his mother to stop her from jumping in after her husband. The funeral comes so quickly; as if Kevin is standing still. He’s fatherless and he’s not sure how he feels, does he care, the man could barely stand him as a son and when he finally did try Kevin didn’t want him as a father. He cried for the relationship that he never knew and would never have now.

A handsome man walks into his office; absolute gorgeous blue soulful eyes. Kevin can tell he is playing with him; the flirting set something off inside him. A need. A need that he hasn’t experienced in a while; he realizes that he wants this charming man. The flirting and brutally honest openness intrigues Kevin and makes Kevin move closer to this younger and out of his league man.

Did he really just ruin this; one date and he already screwed up with Scotty. Why did I have to act so strange when he kissed me; especially after such a good and sweet kiss. Oh, god, it really was such as good kiss. Damn it. Maybe Scotty was right; he wasn’t as confident with strangers knowing that he was gay. Then again as long as his family and friends know why do strangers have to know? But it really was such a good kiss. If Scotty gave him another chance he would let him kiss him anywhere and any place at anytime.

Did they really break up? He wasn’t sure he could breathe; he just lost Scotty, forever. Was everyone right, did he really treat Scotty like a slave or like a hooker. No, no, he didn’t he just wanted to spend some time with him and show him off to his family. Though offering to pay for his time might have been stupid, okay, really, really stupid. Why had he done that, he was proud of Scotty, proud of their relationship and too damn proud to admit he was wrong.

Chad; Chad was hot but Scotty was right in front of him and they missed each other. Kevin didn’t realize how much until he saw him standing in front of him. He missed the openness that Scotty had bought into his life and the love and the pleasure. Oh god, he missed Scotty. The secret smile that Scotty gave just for him; the one that he was giving him right now. Oh, no, oh, no, if I let Scotty leave now he’ll be gone forever.

Jason; I love Jason. Or do I really? God, Scotty is right here. Maybe that’s it, maybe because Scotty’s here and Jason isn’t. No, no, that isn’t it. It’s because even if Scotty was a million miles away he would still be here. Scotty was with him wherever he was. He even called to make sure that Justin was okay and made sure that I still took care of myself even when I was looking after Justin. Being there for each over, that is the love that I want. He turns to tell Scotty and instead finds his lips against his own.

Did he really just say yes!!! He did, he did. Scotty just said he’d marry me. He promised me forever. Me and Scotty forever... me and Scotty forever. Oh, marriage. That is something I never thought would happen to me but I guess all you have to do is meet that special person and all you can think of is marriage. Me, Kevin Walker, getting married!!!!!!!!

I’m a father. I’m a father. The words keep repeating themselves in my head. I know I’m not the dad; that’s Tommy job but, but... she is mine... she has my DNA, she is mine. Though she can’t be. It started a rollercoaster in my head, a baby or babies, a family. Scotty would be a great dad; tough but tender as well. I...I...think...I think I’m ready. I’m ready to be a father.

The pain, the pain. Where is Scotty? Where is Mum? Where is everyone? The pain. Miscarriage. Miscarriage. The pain. Miscarriage. Miscarriage. Why did we have Michelle as a surrogate. Why? I knew she was dangerous and reckless. Why me? Why?

Olivia. She is perfect... she is our kid. Scotty and I have a child together. The start of our very own little family. The way it should have been. It was Olivia from the beginning; we saw her and knew. She needed and wanted a home and we wanted to give it to her. She ours, our little artist girl, shy and confident; laughing and giggling at everything. Our little Olivia.

Daniel. Our son; back from the dead. I’m not dwelling on it anymore; what Michelle did was unforgiveable and yet somehow I’ve forgiven her. I have my son back. I have a daughter. I have Scotty. I have my wished for family and I never want to blink again.

Glad you liked it; yeah, these are the points that I remember - I'm sure I could have found some more but it was limited to two pages.

I remember that scene in a flashback of Kevin and William - it was so touching him saying he wasn't ready
