Unresolved – Part 1

Summary: Set in the episode Resolved because they still got back together too quickly on the show so I’m filling in the gaps for myself.

“There is one thing you can do” Scotty says “you can forgive me” he says hopeful.

Kevin admits his fate and knows that he has to forgive Scotty at some point; it might as well be now. He nods his acknowledgement and quietly says “okay” he has resigned his fate at that point.

“I have my bag in the car” Kevin said just like it had been for the last two weeks; the overnight bag he took to Kitty place with him always ended up in his car trying to get the courage to actually go home; he wanted to but he didn’t want to at the same time “I’ll go and get it”.

He needed to get of the kitchen quickly; he wondered if he could really forgive Scotty or if it was just words. He was telling the truth earlier though; he couldn’t go through the day without Scotty, the last two weeks had been hell, so he had no choice but to go back to him.

He sent a quick message to Kitty (knowing that everyone else would get it from her a minute later) saying that he was staying at home tonight.

As he walked into the flat he realized how much it didn’t feel like home at all; he felt like he was in a strangers’ place, though he recognised the objects and everything around him, it all just felt dislodged and slightly out of place to him.

He started towards Scotty’ bedroom, no, he thought, their bedroom when he heard Scotty talking to someone of the phone.

“Yeah, he is moving back in” Scotty says obviously speaking to someone who knew what was happen; what caught Kevin’ attention was that Scotty said back in not back home “look I’ll talk to you later, he’ll be here soon” and again Kevin paid more attention to the words. The phrase talk to you later gave the meaning that Scotty would ring the person as soon as Kevin was asleep; doubt spread in his mind. The words hurt him because it made him sound like a nobody. Though if he actually paid any attention to Scotty’ voice he would have heard the hopeful excitement in Scotty’ voice.

Kevin again thought that it might be a mistake to move back in; he started to walk away again when he realized that the last time he walked away from Scotty he nearly lost him.

So turning back to the room; he got to doorway and dropped his back. Scotty had been facing the other way and jumped at the sound; turning to face Kevin.

Kevin decided directness was the only way to handle the situation “Who was that?” there was fear in his voice, doubt and anger mixed in as well.

“My dad” Scotty stated noticing the mixture of emotion that Kevin was displaying; not exactly the homecoming that Scotty had expected but nothing less than he deserved.

“Your dad” Kevin repeated; trying to believe it but not sure if he did.

“He has been ringing me for the last two weeks; since you moved out, he calls to check up on me” Scotty explains “makes sure I’m okay”.

“To see if you’re okay” Kevin said sarcastically “it’s not enough that all my family is checking on you but you need someone else. I guess it’s nice to have the support of your family” he said quickly and not really noticing what he said until after he had said it “I didn’t mean that” he continued trying to cover up what he said.

“Yes you did” Scotty said not angry or hurt but knowing that it sadden Kevin that all his family wanted was them back together the only people that even raised a voice or acted angry was Justin and Saul; everyone else acted normally towards him “it’s okay to have your feelings Kevin”

“It just...” Kevin started not sure what he was going to say when he notice that Scotty was folding up the blanket that he had slept with on the couch downstairs before anyone found out about the cheating “where did that come from?” he asked pointing at the blanket.

“Oh” Scotty said realizing what he was doing “I just got it from downstairs”

“I don’t remember seeing it downstairs when I’ve been working” Kevin said thinking back over the last two weeks.

“It was underneath the couch” Scotty said slowly.

“Why?” Kevin said not really understanding the situation.

“Because” Scotty started hesitantly “I was sleeping there since you moved out” he said looking Kevin in the face embarrassed, when Kevin didn’t say anything “it was my chance to be near you even if you didn’t want me to be” he said and they both had a pained expression on their face “the office is you and the blanket even smelt like you” he had a quick smile on his face before it disappeared “I... I deserved to be sleeping on the couch” he said in resignation.

Kevin walked over to where Scotty was and took hold off the blanket and put it in the wardrobe.

He turned around and looked at Scotty “I think its bed time now” Kevin said going to pick up his bag and his pyjamas.

That phrase used to mean that they would be going to bed early and getting up to some dirty things that would require a shower afterwards. Scotty doubted that Kevin meant it that way tonight but he was slightly hurt that Kevin didn’t even notice what he had said.
