Love at Sea – Part 12

Summary: AU this is my first try at this one. So at the moment I’ve been writing about a case study for my course; this makes me feel like I’m still doing uni work.
“Look” Kevin said “I’m sorry...”
But before Kevin could explain why he was sorry Scotty interrupted him.
“There is no reason for you to be sorry” Scotty said neutrally “we don’t know each other. You are just someone that I was talking about the sea to; we don’t owe each other anything. We really don’t know each other at all. We mean nothing to each other” he finished and turned to walk away.
“Scotty, wait” Kevin said calling after him “don’t say that. You felt something; I know you did”
Scotty heard the words but they weren’t the ones that Scotty wanted or needed to hear. The words 'you felt something' meant that Kevin hadn’t felt anything for him. Though part of him knew that wasn’t true there was a larger part of him that was.
“I didn’t say that” Scotty said looking around; once he was sure no one else was near he walked up to Kevin and said quietly but forcefully “what are you trying to do to me; entrap me or something. You have a girlfriend or wife; obviously” remembering when he saw the loving kiss that Kevin had given to the pretty lady.
“Entrap” Kevin said the word going over and over in his head “no, no, of course not. What would give you that opinion of me?” he asked confused.
“Oh” Scotty said become sarcastic “I don’t know; the fact that you are dating someone but also the fact that you have made it the perception that you were interested in me” he said the last few words with hurt and menace in his voice “not that I have made an act of response to you” still unsure whether he was trying to entrap him.

“Scotty” Kevin said looking around and then gently put his hand on Scotty’ arm to calm him “I’m not trying to entrap you; I promise you that” he continued to gently stroke his arm and then move to Scotty’ chest.
A trembling breath was released by Scotty when Kevin moved to his chest; he knew he was clear danger, he never even touched another man openly before in public let alone on his body. It was when Kevin started to pull at his shirt that Scotty had a reality check and pulled his shirt and himself away from Scotty.
“Don’t” Scotty said.
“Sorry” Kevin said agree with Scotty “that was stupid” he said whilst he looked around the area again for any sign of anyone watching them.
“Yeah, for many reason” Scotty said as he roughly put his hand through his hair; not noticing that Kevin looked at him with even more attraction than before not even listening to him.
“Look Scotty” Kevin said carefully “maybe we could go somewhere more private” both of them unsure how the other felt about them.
“We could but we won’t” Scotty said as if it cost him dearly.
“But... but... um, why?” was the only word that Kevin could think of saying to Scotty.
“Because you’re in a relationship; whether you want to be or not” Scotty said; knowing all he wanted was to drag hold of Kevin and never let him go again.
“Look it doesn’t mean anything” Kevin said trying to make it sound as if she didn’t mean anything even though he planned on asking her to marry him.
“It means that you’d rather be in a relationship with someone that means nothing, than be single” Scotty said trying to explain his feelings on the situation.
“Look I know that you were hurt when you saw us kiss” Kevin said trying to understand Scotty’ reaction; he had been with guys over the years; most of them had partners as well to keep up appearances.
“No, that would mean that I cared” Scotty said abruptly “I mean how could you put yourself and her through that. Tell me are you married to her?”
“No” Kevin said shaking his head.
“No” Kevin said shaking his head.
“Do you plan on marrying her?” Scotty asked already knowing the answer but needed to hear him say it.
“Yes” Kevin said bending his head downwards in shame.
“See” Scotty said “even you know it’s the wrong thing to do but you will still do that”
“Look my parents expect me to settle down and have a family; Emily is perfectly lovely lady to do that with” Kevin explaining and for the first time using Emily’ name in a conversation with Scotty.
“Keeping up appearance” Scotty said chuckling to himself “where have I heard that before. What about Emily; don’t you think she deserves to be loved and really loved. I’d rather be only for the rest of my life than put someone through that kind of life. And what about you; you deserve to be with someone who loves you for who you actually are and not for someone you pretend to be” he was serious by the end of the speech he made.
“Well” Kevin thought carefully his next words “it’s not like either you or I can be with who we wanted to be with” he said sadly.
“Not right now” Scotty agreed silently “but maybe one day” he said with hope “I better get going” he realized that the sun was starting to rise “I have to work early”.
“Scotty” Kevin said gently not sure if he wanted Scotty to hear him or not but Scotty turned around “I really did feel something for you” he admitted not sure what Scotty reaction would be.
Scotty smiled at the comment “Yeah, me too, I felt that as well” and then he turned and walked away.

Sorry to hear about your job - that isn't good - especially when it's your dream job :(
They will have there nice moment before the sinking - I promise - though I haven't wrote it - remember this part is still set only between the first and second day.

I'm trying a chapter every couple of days so I might get to the end before I run out of chapters (though haven't really wrote anything more recent; at chapter 16 current).
They'll have some romantic moments at some point; before the ship sinks lol

Well, chapter 13 is up now - 14 by the weekend - I've been busy this week but I've got up to 15 so really need to try writing so more.
Glad you like the story - always nice to hear; especially from someone I've reading for a while :)
