Unresolved – Part 12
About: Kevin and Scotty
Disclaimer: Not mine. Just messing with the characters if B&S
Summary: Set in the episode Resolved because they still got back together too quickly on the show so I’m filling in the gaps for myself.
After the food, came the talking; Kevin was nervous about everything, they had so many problems to deal with that he wasn’t sure they would be able to make it through. The main problem didn’t come down to the cheating anymore; or at least he hoped, but more about trust.
Trust needed to be built again; on both sides. Would Kevin be able to trust Scotty alone or would he expect that the moment he is gone Scotty would be looking for someone. He didn’t think that Scotty would actually do anything, not this time; however the thoughts were still there. He voiced his thoughts to Scotty.
“How are we every going to trust each other?” Kevin said difficultly, he wished there was just a magical switch and everything could go back to normal but this wasn’t a TV show, this was reality and things just weren’t that easy.
“I guess in time we will” Scotty answered slowly, not really a proper answer but it was the best he could do. People always said that ‘time heals all wounds’, he hoped it was true. He wanted them to work this through and go old together.
“But how?” Kevin repeated; he needed a solution, an act or a theory, something that he could hold on to and in the bad times point to and say everything will be okay as long as ... but he couldn’t finish the thought.
“I don’t really know” Scotty answered truthfully and saw the disappointment in Kevin’ face; it wasn’t directed at Scotty but the situation instead “maybe we could figure it out together; talk problems and topics through, use actual conversation. Maybe conversation is the answer; as long as we’re open and honest about everything we should be able to trust each other” Scotty wasn’t even sure if what he had said made any sense.
But Kevin could understand the logic “Conversation and truth; I guess that will be our solution for now. Once we are back to us maybe we’ll talk about it, sometimes a white lie is good for everyone; like... a surprise party or a special treat. Like when I blindfolded you and we went to the bank to sign our joint bank accounts” both Kevin and Scotty were smiling at the memory.
“That was a lovely surprise and great gesture... I enjoyed the meal, wine, conversation and that night” Scotty said with a huge smile as Kevin started to blush. Scotty had kept the blindfold and they had used it later on that night.
“Me too” Kevin said smiling from ear to ear.
They were staring at each other; both wanting the same thing but Scotty was too nervous to ask the words ‘Can I kiss you?’ he didn’t want any more rejections and he hated the fact that he had to ask for what he used to have freely and pretty much whenever he wanted it. It was like second nature to Scotty; like the air he was breathing in.
Kevin could see the debate occurring through Scotty’s face and emotions so he put Scotty out of his misery and said “Kiss me” gently.
“Oh god, yes” were the only words the Kevin could hear at barely a whispered level before Scotty basically tackled Kevin and push him down on to the couch and pushed his body down on to Kevin.
Scotty put his heart and soul into their kissing session; not because he was trying to impress Kevin but because the need for Kevin was that strong. He wanted and needed Kevin so much that he was trying to get his fill of Kevin now; he was worried that Kevin wouldn’t let him touch him again. He didn’t know what was going on in Kevin’s head; he just hoped that Kevin wouldn’t walk away from him after the kiss.
Kevin pulled back from the kiss; though he could tell that Scotty was enjoying himself he also knew that Scotty was trying too hard. He took hold of Scotty’s face and saw the disappointment on it and that saddened Kevin more than any words could.
“You’re trying too hard, honey” Kevin said softly as he caressed Scotty’s face “You need to relax and enjoy us being together” he could literally feel the tension leave his body.
“I know” Scotty responded; with their new promise of honesty he continued to speak “I’m just scared” Kevin looked at him slightly doubting his words “the first time we kissed since my admission I didn’t see you for ages. I don’t want it happen again; I need you in my life” Scotty said with a slight tear running down his face. Scotty tried to wipe it away roughly but Kevin caught him.
“I know; I’m scared too” Kevin said truthfully as he gently wiped the tear from Scotty face; Kevin could feel Scotty tremble with the action “I’m sorry, I should never had left you there alone. My emotions were all over the place but I want to be here with you. You do believe that, right?” Kevin asked scared that Scotty might not believe him.
“Yes” Scotty said and he actually believed it because he could see it reflected in Kevin’s eyes; he could see the truth and the fear of not being believed. They were beginning to become them again.
“I’m not sure how I’ll react with everything, we still have some work to do” Kevin said as he was motioning all over the place “but however I act you have to know that I what to be with you. It will take time”.
“I know but you are worth it; as long as I know you want me in return” Scotty admitted; he needed to feel wanted as well.
“Of course I do; I love you” Kevin said reassuring Scotty; this time when he said the words he felt; there was no doubt, no hesitation and no awkward reminder. This time it was purely about them.
“I know and I love you, too” Scotty said; he could sense a change in Kevin’ behaviour, the words weren’t forced but they were still true and to prove them Kevin brought Scotty’s face down towards his so they could pick up right where they left off.
Kevin could feel the difference in Scotty; the hunger and the intensity was removed and they could finally be themselves and enjoyed each other.
It was at that moment that there was a knock at the door; they broke apart from each other slowly, looked at the door and then at each other and smiled simultaneously and said “Sarah” over the years she still had a tendency to arrive at the worst time; even though Sarah had promised that she would call first.
Kevin went to answer to door as the phone started to ring; he looked at it hoping it would stop but it refused to, now which one was he supposed to answer first.
Scotty motioned him to answer the door as he said “I’ll get it” and Kevin could hear the start of the conservation on the phone “No, not at all, Sarah ... well maybe a couple of seconds earlier” he said as he laughed and made sure that Kevin knew it wasn’t actually Sarah at the door.
Kevin opened the door slowly “Kitty” he said as he swung up the door; for the most part no one had dropped by the Walker-Wandell house, a silent request to be left alone was communicated. It was a surprise to see Kitty at their door step as well as have Sarah call at the same time. Kevin indicated for Kitty to come in and hopefully explain.
“So...” Kevin said as he looked between Kitty and Scotty talking on the phone to Sarah; it was at that point that Kevin’ phone started to ring, he didn’t have to look at it to know that it was Justin calling “...what going on?” Kevin finished his earlier thought.
“Mom said that you two were thinking of having children and I should come over and help you through the procedure” Kitty said caught off guard; she noticed Kevin’ reaction and saw the frozen face of Scotty “Mother” she said under her breathe “I tried to tell her that it must have been a mistake; that it was too soon for either of you but she was so certain” Kitty explained complete embarrassed by her actions and those of her mothers’; she hung her head in shame.
Scotty was obviously hearing something similar from Sarah as he was explaining to her “No, Sarah, we’re, not I think I would know, yes. Nora must have been mistaken. Goodbye, Sarah” he said goodbye slowly and clearly so that Sarah would understand that the conversation was finished.
Scotty then joined Kevin and Kitty in their conversation.
“Well I think it’s good to wait” Kitty concluded; it was then that she noticed the ruffled hair on both Kevin and Scotty and the clothes that weren’t as tidy as they should be “did I do a Sarah and interrupt you two” she asked nervously; she didn’t really even want the answer. She quickly picked up her purse that she had dropped on the table and then went for the door “Don’t rush too quickly into anything” she hurried out of the door but before it closed she quickly shoved her head through the opening of the door “except... well... carry on with what you were doing and I’ll tell Mom she was wrong. Again” she closed the door thinking how happy she was to see that he brother was recovering from everything and that their relationship was heading in the right direction.
They waited until the door closed before they both started to laugh.
“Trust your family” Scotty said laughing; he couldn’t believe how intrusive the Walkers were, after all these years but he loved them for caring so much.
“We should take Kitty’s advice though” Kevin said pointing with his eyes and head to the couch.
Scotty nodded greedily and took Kevin with him to continue with their earlier activity.
